TPS: Fentanyl Awareness: Assembly Bill 889; Ed Code Section 48985.5
Last year we began sharing information about the dangers of fentanyl because we take the safety and wellbeing of our students very seriously and we felt that we could not ignore the frightening epidemic of tragic overdoses in our nation, caused by fentanyl. Since that time, Assembly Bill 889 was passed in 2023, which requires public schools to share information annually about this very subject
Our goal in communicating with you on this topic remains the same, which is to create awareness and provide you with tools to discuss the dangers of fentanyl with your children, in a way that makes sense to you and your family. Although our school has not been directly affected by this epidemic, we hope that by bringing awareness we can avoid future tragedies together.
The following links are to one video and several informational website pages. We do caution that the video, “Dead on Arrival”, is very difficult to watch, but we encourage you to view it and then use the links to learn basic information about this drug and its various forms.
